How do I book a trip?
Our trips are scheduled through the Kitty Hawk Kites Adventure Center. You can view availability and make reservations by visiting our calendar or by calling 1-877-359-8447.
Where do the trips depart from and where should I park?
The Vineyard Voyage and sunset cruise both depart from the Kitty Hawk Kites dock in downtown Duck. Parking is limited at the Duck Kitty Hawk Kites store, please park at Life is Good/Kitty Hawk Surf Company and take the public boardwalk to the Kitty Hawk Kites kiosk beside the water tower located at 1226 Duck Rd, Duck, NC.
How long does the trip last?
The Vineyard Voyage is approximately 2.5-3 hrs round-trip.
The Sunset Cruise is approximately 1.5-2 hrs.
How should I dress for the Vineyard Voyage?
You should dress comfortable and be prepared for a boat ride! It’s the Outer Banks, laid-back beach attire is encouraged at the winery! Wear soft-soled shoes, sandals or flip-flops. Please no hard-soled or heeled shoes on the boat.
What should I bring?
Light jacket for the wind and sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), bottle of water if it's hot.
Is the vessel handicap accessible?
All passengers must be able to climb steps to get on/off the dock and boat.
How many passengers can you carry?
We accommodate groups up to 16 passengers. If you have a larger group or special request, please call our reservation line at 1-877-359-8447.
Can I bring my own alcohol?
Alcohol CANNOT be brought on the Vineyard Voyage due to regional laws restricting non-native alcohol at the winery.
Alcohol is allowed on the sunset cruise, but please no glass.
Can I bring coolers?
Small soft-sided coolers are allowed; please NO alcohol or glass bottles on the Vineyard Voyage.
Are there restrooms on the boat?
There is not a restroom on the boat however they are available at the winery on the Vineyard Voyage.
Is there shade on the boat?
Limited shade onboard the vessel, please be prepared for sun and wind exposure during the boat crossing.
How long is the Vineyard Voyage boat ride, will I get sea-sick?
The boat ride across the Currituck Sound lasts approximately 30 minutes. Motion sickness is generally not a problem because of the short duration of the boat ride.
What grape varieties are grown at the Vineyard?
Sanctuary Vineyards currently grows sixteen grape varietals. These include Viognier, Chardonnay, Petit Manseng, Albariño, Traminette, Chardonel, Vidal Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Tempranillo, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Tannat and Aglianico.
Are kids allowed at the vineyard?
Minors are allowed on the Vineyard Voyage, however this trip is not recommended for small children less than 5 yrs old.
Can I purchase wine at the vineyard?
Yes, all of the wines you taste during the Vineyard Voyage are available for purchase.
Can I bring my pet?
Pets are not allowed on the Vineyard Voyage or sunset cruise.
